On this episode, I’ve got 2 Buicks 20 years apart dueling it out on the road course at Utah Motorsports Campus! One is the most beautiful car in America, the 1965 Buick Riviera and my 1985 Buick Regal, the similarities are that they’re both Brown (okay, one is more Gold-ish) and Buicks. Today we’re on the western half of the track, and this side is much more challenging for this drag racer at heart. I had the opportunity to have a driving instructor join me for a lap to critique my driving and my car! The verdict, the car has MASSIVE understeer and I need to focus on being smooth. I’m driving like I’m cutting a light and ripping the throttle on the top end like I’m cutting someone in to take .003 at the stripe. For my non drag racing fans, that means I’m very abrupt and very forceful with my movements which tends to upset the car in turns. The Regal isn’t the best handling car in the world and it gets spooky when all those worn parts get upset. The Riviera fared much better, Dr. Doug was able to leave it in second gear for all but a brief moment on this track and he was met with far better results than the last outing! I also met up with a friend of mine with a Mach 1 Mustang that we get to go for a ride along with. Sit back and enjoy while we burn some laps down, then go out to the garage and build your dream!
