In today’s work on the daily driver 2000 Cadillac Deville with the Northstar, it’s time to fix the leaky power steering pump so that it turns like it’s supposed to. The power steering pump on these cars is pretty easy to do with some basic tools. The only special tool needed is the power steering pump pulley puller. You can get one at your local parts store or here from Amazon: Power Steering Pulley Puller. While you’re in there, it’s a great time to change off the serpentine belt. If the pump has been leaking the belt is probably soaked with oil and is a good idea to change anyways. When the rubber of the belt gets soaked with oil, the rubber swells and doesn’t hold up as well to the harsh underhood environment. The belt tensioner tool can also be found here:Belt Tensioner Tool. This is an easy job that really doesn’t take that long to do. These links are affiliate links and I may receive a small commission from them at no additional cost to you.
