It’s time to bring home the last 2 cars to the new Snow Family Racing garage. The 1985 Buick Regal and the 1956 Oldsmobile 88 are the last 2 cars to bring home. There’s a catch, I only have a trailer for one car, the other will need to be driven 1100 miles home by my wife! The Regal has some real sentimental value to me and the Olds has been in my wife’s family since it was new in 1956. It’s time they came home where they can get the attention that they need!
The Regal has a it’s original 3.8 Buick V6 while the Olds has its 324 cubic inch Olds Rocket complete with original 2 bbl carb which hasn’t run or moved under its power in almost 40 years. The Regal was new the last time this Olds ran. Let that sink in for a moment. The good news is that the Regal has been sitting for a little over 6 months, so all of it’s systems like brakes should still be in good working order.
The Regal came to life with a jump pack and ran far better than I expected it to. A quick drive around the block let me know that I could be confident that it wasn’t going to leave me stranded. After the Regal had it’s fluids changed, it was time to get the Olds loaded into the trailer being pulled by my motorhome.
The Olds rolled and steered, brakes went to the floor. The only braking was sliding it into park… Not a great idea, but better than nothing! Once it was nestled into the trailer and tied down, the drive could begin!
The drive was not without its problems, but luckily we made it home! You’ll need to check out the video to see what perils lie in wait on the road!
Here’s some of the toools that made this trip possible. These are affililate links and I may receive a small comission at no additional cost to you.
